Why not a ski category?
Because it’s a running and bike race! Not enough snow, too many road crossings, and the fact that skiiers take up too much room on the trail are some of the deciding factors. When the Birkie adds running and cycling, then maybe I’ll consider it!
Can one choose to do only cycling? Are recumbent trikes allowed?
What is the percentage mix of trail/pavement?
There is no pavement on the course. There is a dirt road that is covered with snow and used by hikers and snowmobiles. If weather permits, we will also travel on the Lester River and/or Amity Creek.
